Impact Hub Manila partners with Bossjob, a one-stop portal connecting employers with job seekers, to empower entrepreneurs through the Impact Hackathon. The partnership was born out of both firms’ belief in the transformative powers of technology in the hands of innovative entrepreneurs. The Impact Hackathon provides entrepreneurs the decentralized opportunity to network, innovate, and create. This groundbreaking event and innovation support align with Impact Hub Manila and Bossjob’s shared aim of large-scale economic progress for the country.
As part of the partnership, Bossjob will invite its network of entrepreneurs to the Impact Hackathon opportunity. Bossjob’s representatives will grace the event and may provide guidance and words of wisdom to the budding innovators as they create and collaborate.
The Impact Hackathon comprises a series of thematic, non-stop innovation sprints. Over the course of 48 hours, teams work to create technology-enabled solutions in reaction to statements that address the country’s most pressing problems. Because of the pandemic, the Impact Hackathon will be held virtually.
The first Impact Hackathon vertical, which focused on education, ran from May 27 to 29. The next vertical set for this coming July centers on climate change. Other planned verticals include food and agriculture, health, and smart cities, as well as an awareness campaign on indigenous people. This year’s Impact Hackathon will run until December 2021, ending with a culminating global impact forum and the 2050 Fest.
The winning teams of each vertical receive cash prizes and incubation support with Impact Hub Manila. Under this newly inked partnership, the winning teams will also receive a one-year Bossjob subscription worth over Php120,000 each. The subscription is inclusive of several free job postings on the Bossjob website and other platform features.
Committed to fostering positive long-term change, the Impact Hackathon experience goes beyond the 48-hour sprint. With community partners like Bossjob, the post-Hackathon support winners gain will allow them to start and scale their impact-driven solutions. The entrepreneurs will be able to not only share their ideas with the rest of the Philippines but be part of long-term positive change.
The Impact Hackathon is part of Impact 2050, a flagship program of Impact Hub Manila to create large-scale economic progress through the activation of groundbreaking events and curated support for innovators. This multi-year program will equip, enable, and empower innovative individuals who want to affect change through technology.
